Program title: Meet-a-scientist fundraiser events

Overview: We hold fundraiser events quarterly with a distinguished guest scientist. Guest scientists are usually
invitees from a UCSC seminar series or the local NOAA seminar series. Fundraiser events usually occur at
a local brewery or winery, supporting local business and raising funds for Subunit activities.

History:

• This program was initiated in its current form during the 2017/2018 academic year.
• Oct 27, 2017 – UCSC EEB seminar invitee Robin Waples visited us for a
  fundraiser at East Cliff Brewing Company
• In 2017 we held two fundraiser events at Equinox Winery and East Cliff Brewing Company without guest
  scientists.
• In 2016 we held a fundraiser at Woodstock Pizza with Peter Moyle from UC Davis.
